PHOTO ESSAY: FROM nursery TO huge kid space

when upon a time, I was consumed with John Lennon as my nursery motif. I didn’t understand if we were expecting a woman or boy.

My mommy as well as other half painted a mural on our wall based on a sketch she drew from a onesie hang tag. I scored the bed linen second-hand from Berkeley parents Network then I made a huge offer of searching for the best rug. You can see the edge of the rug at the base of the crib. Within two months, I believed that rug (on a space of wall-to-wall carpet) was stupid. We gotten a matching lamp new at a monstrous infants R Us. as well as my mommy pulled apart the crib bumper to make a custom-made window shade.

Thanks mom!

Here you can see exactly how the space morphed into a space for two bit people (and see the window shade). infant Milo (left) was born when Holden was 21 months old. I kept them in two cribs for as long as I could. nothing wrong with a three year old in a crib as long as he doesn’t climb out, right?

The mural lasted up until my kids were five as well as three years old. You can likewise see that lamp as well as our hand-me-down glider. The lamp is still going strong. My youngsters just got as well huge to sit in my lap for reading in the glider, however we still have it.

As the next shift to “Big kid Room,” we got this hand-me-down young child bed as well as located it where Holden’s crib had been across the space (in the photo above).

When I started to truly believe about them growing into the room, I felt strongly that we needed to let go of the wall mural. As much as I liked the animals, it felt as well babyish to me. We selected blue walls — light with a dark accent — as well as made a decision to get some decals from Blik so we might mix it up over time as their interests change. For starters, robots!

The final step was to discover a great solid set of bunk beds from Craig’s listing as well as to add cubbies as well as toy storage across the room. For security reasons, only huge sibling is enabled on the top bunk.

Have you made the shift from infant space to huge youngster room? What did you do?
